Christmas at Little Thatch

So, another Xmas comes and goes but it was a busy one this year with six family guests.

Again no snow but during the thirty years that we've lived here, I can only remember a couple of White Christmases.

But the main attraction for this part of the world, whatever the time of the year, is the wonderful scenery, particularly the coastline.

We walked around Morte Point on Xmas Eve....the wind howled and the waves crashed...brilliant and exhilarating!!

And on Boxing Day, the weather was bright and crisp for our walk from Watersmeet to Lynmouth, working-up an appetite for a Fish n Chip lunch in the Rising Sun. We have been doing this walk, inland to Rockford or to Lynmouth, on Boxing Day for so many years that you could call it a tradition. We never tire of the dramatic valley of the river Lyn.

Rather like the Agatha Christie novel, our guests progressively disappeared till there were just four of us to do a recently 'discovered' walk from Saunton to Croyde. The views West and East are breathtaking. A drink in The Thatch and back again to our start point.

We had guests in the B&B over the New Year and it seems this an increasingly popular thing to get away, eat well and enjoy the great outdoors.
