We have been visiting Broomhill Sculpture garden over the last twenty years or so and, although we are by no means aficionados of modern art, the use of the natural landscape to exhibit the sculptures is always interesting. The hotel itself has a gallery and restaurant offering bar snacks and a la carte.
This weekend we had our two daughters, their partner/husband and a mother in law to stay and despite the weather, decided to firstly visit the garden and then lunch. The sun actually appeared and we took in some familiar sculptures and new ones and the exhibits in the National Sculpture Prize.
We have eaten at Broomhill in the past and generally enjoyed our meals and on this occasion our party had a very good three course meal for £16.95 which everyone agreed was exceptionally good value for money.
I would imagine that the majority of visitors
to North Devon are unaware of this gem but I
would urge them to pay a visit to Broomhill. I don't think they would regret it.
